On looking back over her life, Viv knows that God has been equipping her for the role of Reader. Confirmation as an adult was followed by leading a large Sunday morning children’s group and reading a children’s Bible – a very worthwhile thing to do for everyone, as one really gets to know Jesus through the words.
Viv trained as a dancing teacher, ballet, modern, tap, ballroom and latin, so with three children of her own, children have been a huge part of her life.
An Alpha course with regular church attendance deepened her faith, together with reading the whole Bible (adult one!) in a millennium project called “Cover to Cover”. In 2003 a question from her Rector in Norfolk – “Viv, have you ever thought of being a Reader?” – confirmed the words she had heard before, which she now understood were really from God, and she hadn’t recognised His voice.
After 3 years training, she was licensed in 2006 in Ely, changes of church and Diocese followed with 4 years spent on a narrow boat taking her faith out together with husband David, and finally and very happily, she has settled here in Thrapston.
